Standing with our UPS Brothers & Sisters

11-04-2025

Local 1224 Crewmembers, As you have likely already seen, a UPS MD-11 bound for Honolulu crashed on takeoff from Louisville earlier today. Accidents like this hit us all close to home. Our thoughts and our hearts are with our brothers and sisters at IPA, UPS, their families, and their loved ones on this somber evening. Tragedies like this remind us of the inherent risks we accept each day when we kiss our loved ones goodbye to take to the skies. We stand on the shoulders of those who have worked to create the culture of safety that defines our profession. Tonight, we are all UPS. Local 1224 has reached out to our brothers and sisters at IPA and offered our support and assistance. There are no degrees of separation in our profession. If this accident has affected you personally, please know that you are not alone. Local 1224's Peer Pilot Support Program is available – if you need someone to talk to, please reach out to Mychal Hornbeck at mhornbeck@apa1224.org. Additionally, each of our pilot groups maintains its own Critical Incident Response Program (CIRP) Committee, with contact information listed on the committee page for your carrier. It's okay to not be okay.
