LAS Hotel Update6-27-2025Fellow Horizon Air Pilots, It was recently brought to our attention that the Doubletree in Las Vegas did not meet the food requirements found in the Minimum Hotel Standards MOU. The company requested the Union sign a waiver that would have allowed the continued use of the non-compliant hotel. The Union declined to sign the waiver taking the position that in a market like Las Vegas, which offers over 150,000 hotel rooms, there is no justification for signing a waiver when there is a sufficient supply of suitable hotels. The Union requested the Springhill Suites be used as the new primary hotel. Be advised that despite the Union’s repeated rejections, the Company is placing pilots back in the Residence Inn Green Valley, which was previously used during Doubletree renovations. During the time our crews stayed at the Residence Inn there were 34 total reports on API, 16 of them were reports related to aircraft noise, which is a known noise source and violation of the Minimum Hotel Standards MOU. In spite of the overwhelming evidence that the Residence Inn is not suitable for crews and that it has and will continue to cause rest interruptions, the company is placing crews there for one reason, cost. The company is once again disregarding your fitness for duty, safety, and comfort to save a few dollars. For anyone who is awarded an overnight in LAS: If you do not feel you have adequate rest opportunity and you choose to refuse the Residence Inn, the Union will fully support your decision to do so. Anytime your rest is disrupted at any hotel, immediately call scheduling and reset your rest (this is not a fatigue call!). If you are fatigued, please call off fatigued and file a fatigue report. Please see this link for the email correspondence between the Union and Management regarding the Las Vegas hotel. You will also find below video footage from the LAS Residence Inn and an image showing the Residence Inn in reference to the LAS 26L and 26R Approach paths. At the point where aircraft pass over the hotel on approach to the 26’s, aircraft are approximately 700 feet AGL. Residence Inn in reference to the LAS 26L and 26R Approach paths ![]() |
