Happy Thanksgiving!

Fellow Local 1224 Crewmembers,
On behalf of the Executive Board, I would like to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. Please be advised that the International and Local 1224 offices will be closed November 24-25.
With Thanksgiving tomorrow, it is important to remember the reason for the holiday – GRATITUDE. We genuinely have much to be thankful for this year!
Many of our pilot groups – Cape Air, Silver Airways, and Horizon Air – made great gains during 2022 in the form of LOAs with increased pay rates and pilot retention bonuses. We are experiencing better working relationships between our union leadership, company management teams and our customers. Hiring is strong across almost every airline in the industry. These market forces will inevitably spread to gains at Omni and ABX through the great efforts of their Executive Councils and committees. Two 1224 members’ children were recipients of a $10,000 Hoffa Scholarship award. Through strong leadership, expertise and participation in industry working groups and aviation rulemaking committees, we continue to be a respected, sought-after voice on Capitol Hill. I am also incredibly grateful to be working with our tremendous staff, who continue to amaze me with their talent and work ethic, and I’m inspired by the members who volunteer their time and talents to better our pilots’ livelihoods.
By definition, a union is an organization of workers formed to protect the rights and interests of its members. Working both for you and with you is an amazing opportunity. I appreciate your professionalism, high standards, persistence, and ongoing encouragement as we push forward. Each and every day we are focused on defending rights and seeking better pay and working conditions for our members. But, in the spirit of the holiday season, it is appropriate that we step back from the day-to-day injustices, reflect on the good, and redirect our focus toward being grateful for this year’s blessings and opportunities.
Again, we genuinely have much to be thankful for this year! Whether you are able to celebrate with friends and family or your schedule has you transitioning the globe, I hope you will take time to celebrate Thanksgiving with happy and prosperous memories in your mind and gratitude in your being.
