Cheyenne Young
Relative of Andrew Young (Southern)
$1,000 James R Hoffa Academic Scholarship
From Eagle River, Alaska, Cheyenne competed for her high school at the varsity level for volleyball, basketball, and track and field. In addition, she was very involved in her school, serving as an officer in student government for three years and as a member at large in her school’s chapter of NHS. She loves getting involved in her community as well, serving over 100 hours a year in her community, primarily with youth ages ranged 12-16. She is now attending school at Husson University in Bangor, Maine, studying to earn an undergraduate degree in exercise science. Her ultimate goal is to be an athletic trainer. In addition to her academics, Cheyenne is still playing volleyball at the collegiate level at Husson.
Alexei Murphy
Relative of Jamison Linck Murphy (Atlas)
$1,000 James R Hoffa Academic Scholarship
Alex graduated from Indian Land High School in Indian Land, South Carolina with highest honors, achieving an overall GPA of 4.75. In athletics, Alex lettered in varsity football for four years and varsity wrestling for three years, achieving a state championship while wrestling in the 195 lbs weight class his senior year. Alex is currently attending Ithaca College in New York, where he is majoring in biology and is a member of the football team playing defensive back and linebacker.
Claire Tompkins
Relative of Bert Tompkins (Horizon Air)
$1,000 James R Hoffa Academic Scholarship
Claire Tompkins, a recent graduate from Lewis and Clark High School in Spokane, Washington received an award from the James R. Hoffa Memorial Scholarship. Having a keen interest in architecture and landscapes, coupled with an aptitude for Math and Science, Claire has begun studying Civil Engineering at the University of Idaho. According to Claire’s academic plan, she will graduate in 2023. Until then she plans to help finance her education through work-study at the university’s School of Architecture and balance out her work routine through involvement in intermural rock climbing and cycling. Claire and her family are sincerely grateful to the Teamsters for the financial assistance the James R. Hoffa Memorial Scholarship provided.
Rachel Kim

Rachel was so thrilled when she heard that she was one of the James R. Hoffa Memorial Scholarship recipients. Thanks to Teamsters for believing her future!
Stephanie Nation
Daughter of Paul Nation (Allegiant)
$1000 Joint Council 41 Scholarship
Stephanie Nation graduated last year from Desert Vista High School in Phoenix, Arizona. She is currently a freshman at the University of Arizona, majoring in Elementary Education and French with a minor in Educational Psychology. She is a passionate Christian and with her degrees she hopes to become an elementary teacher in France, possibly teaching English as well as doing mission work there by sharing her faith. In her free time she enjoys doing a variety of things such as painting, woodworking, bullet journaling, and decorating cakes. She also enjoys hiking and playing board games with family and friends. She has been in ballet for 15 years, dancing en pointe for the last several. After having trained for about eight years, she is a first degree black belt in Tang Soo Do, a Korean form of martial arts, and teaches karate classes with her dojo whenever she is able.
